We opened the Kilmarnock club in February 2014 initially at the Galleon Leisure Centre, and in October 2015 we moved to the excellent facilities at the Cluaranwkwai Judo Club. We are currently quite a small class, making it an excellent place for beginners to find their feet.
We practice once a week on Sundays between 2pm and 3:30pm, so why not come along and join in?
If you have any questions or would like more information about our classes, please get in touch:
Cluarankwai Judo Club, 21 New Mill Road, Kilmarnock, KA1 3JB
Annual membership to Aikido UK (which includes a contribution towards administrative and insurance costs) is £22 for adults (18+) per year. There are no junior classes available at the Kilmarnock location. For junior classes please see our Barrhead location.
After joining, adult class fees are paid monthly, and you can choose to either:
Pay £20 per month for five classes (roughly the equivalent of one practice per week), and £5 for any additional classes after this. OR Pay £35 per month for unlimited practices at any club in Aikido UK.
About the Instructor
I strongly believe that the practice of aikido is something that can benefit everyone. Through regular practice we can learn to improve our self-discipline, awareness, and develop a calmness under pressure that can be invaluable in our busy modern lives.
I began practising aikido at the age of 16 in November 2001; around a year after Sensei Andrew left the Ki Federation of Great Britain and formed Aikido UK.
Under the watchful instruction of Sensei Andrew I trained regularly and, at Sensei's direction, in March 2006 I began my teaching career with the junior classes at Barrhead.
Since then I have had the opportunity to teach classes in Paisley, Newton Mearns, Castlemilk, and Kilmarnock.
Currently I instruct classes in Kilmarnock and Castlemilk, while continuing to train in developing my aikido under the instruction of Sensei Dunne.
